Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep your floors clean enough to decrease the frequency of manual hoovering. Pick a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs and also has an enormous bin that needs to be emptying every so often.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves This is an advantage essential for families with children or pets. A lot of the top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the robot's dustbin after it has filled up.
Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and can move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have test. It can get stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it may encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it started. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. good robot vacuum takes three hours to charge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room and sweep a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world full of vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system is able to trap allergens and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It is able to swiftly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum and vice versa.
The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical not an extraordinary run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's enough time to vacuum the average-sized home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second time usually works). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's a great choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area several times to ensure an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode on its own and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a greater variety of features for automation.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name that is found on all kinds of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the top robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence tech for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification docking frequency settings and much more. The app is easy to learn and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we've tested and could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you monitor your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin are washable to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties to keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Contrary to other robotic vacuums which are designed for both hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the area clear for maximum runtime. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level according to whether it's collecting dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to tell where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The app allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug, for instance has a dark-colored border that can trip up some other robots. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border, without notifying the edge. And the ability to create a weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
